TFT35 not displaying layer height properly

I have a TFT35 hooked up to a SKR mini E3 V3 and everything works except the layer height display. It shows the height in mm but the number of layers as ----. I contacted support and tried everything they recommended including updating the firmware to one they sent me with no effect. Anyone else had this problem?
