Motherboard upgrade for Wanhao D6 printer

Greetings-

I have a Wanhao D6. The motherboard failed for the third time and I would like to replace it with a quiet 32-bit board. I am open to suggestions.

What I have read so far is the the SKR 1.4 board is a popular replacement. Besides the board and the 2209 drivers, what else do I have to order. I assume I will need to replace the LCD. Is the LCD12864 plug-and-play? If not, is there an LCD that is plug-and-play? Finally, what else will I need to order to make a working printer.
