Benchy prints great, nothing else seems to stick to the build plate

I recently purchased a BIQU BX 3dD printer.  I followed the directions in the manual and was well pleased at the quality of the benchy test file.  I tried to print some other files (that I had successfully printed on an old i3 clone, but the prints all failed due to lack of adhesion to the build surface ( I had the same result when I pre-applied glue stick to the print bed).  I also tried to print the drawer file provided by biqu with the same result. Any guidance to rectifying this issue?
