There are mainly the following types of 3D printer filament:
1. PLA (polylactic acid)
Features: Easy to print, environmentally friendly, biodegradable.
Application: Ideal for beginners and rapid prototyping.
2. ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene)
Features: high temperature resistance, high strength, but easy to warp edge.
Application: Suitable for functional parts and durable models.
3. PETG (Polyethylene terephthalate)
Features: Impact resistant, easy to print, non-toxic.
Application: Suitable for models that require durability and transparency.
4. TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane)
Features: strong flexibility, wear resistance, good elasticity.
Application: Suitable for making soft items, such as mobile phone cases and toys.
5. nylon
Features: high strength, good toughness, but strong hygroscopicity.
Application: Suitable for manufacturing wear-resistant parts and functional parts.
6. ASA (Acrylonitrile-Styrene-Acrylate)
Features: Similar to ABS, but more weather resistant and UV resistant.
Application: Models suitable for outdoor use.
7. Wood and metal composites
Features: Contains wood chips or metal powder, the surface effect is unique.
Application: Suitable for artwork and decorations.
Each wire has its own unique characteristics and application scenarios, and the selection should be determined according to the printing needs and the nature of the finished product.
